SCHOOL DAY -OCT. 17, 2025

This is a FREE event to registered public, parochial and home school teachers and classes.  No "drop-ins" are permitted.  Teachers must register by Oct. 10 to reserve their class time slot. Time slots for public and parochial schools are from 9 am to 12:30 pm; time slots for home schools are from 12:45 pm to 2:30 pm. Those with the 2:30 pm time have until 4:15 to complete their learning experience.

Each class is allotted up to 2 hours for its geology experience.  Every year the event has a different theme and at least one learning station will deal with it.  Teachers will receive materials to help them teach earth sciences.  A "Treasure Hunt" will be sent to  each registered teacher to copy and give to his/her students for the event.  The teacher will also receive enough specimens for the entire class (related to the show theme), to be given to them by the teacher.

In addition to the learning stations, students and chaperones are encouraged to look through the various vendors to see the great variety of rocks and minerals on display.  It is okay for the students to bring a small amount of money with them in case they want to buy a $1 grab bag or other inexpensive specimen to start their own collections.

Here are some learning stations that are normally part of School Day as well as some that might be part of the 2024 School Day.  Often, our own junior members may be "teachers" at a station if their school is not in session.

To register your class for School Day, email Michele Yamanaka at yamanakam@cs.com.
